BANGI, Sept 18 – The Occupational Health Conference 2025 (OCHCON 2025) opened today at the Grand Ballroom, Bangi Resort Hotel, Bandar Baru Bangi, in an event that has brought together a wide spectrum of occupational health and safety professionals. The two-day hybrid conference, taking place from September 17 to 18, is organized under the auspices of the Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP), underscoring the university’s commitment to advancing research, education, and policy in occupational health.

Themed “The Future of OSH: Trends and Transformation in Occupational Health – Ergonomic”, this year’s conference emphasizes the growing importance of ergonomics in modern workplaces. As industries shift towards automation, digitalisation, and hybrid work models, ergonomic practices are seen as central to protecting workers’ health and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Hosted by UniKL RCMP

UniKL RCMP, well known for its expertise in medicine, health sciences, and research, is taking a leading role in shaping Malaysia’s discourse on occupational health. By hosting OCHCON 2025, the institution is not only strengthening its academic footprint but also bridging the gap between academia, industry, and policymakers.

“Occupational health must evolve with the times. Ergonomics is no longer optional; it is essential. By organising OCHCON 2025, UniKL RCMP is creating a platform where experts and professionals can share knowledge and practical strategies to improve workplace well-being,” said the organising committee in a press statement.

Accredited for Professional Development

The conference has been endorsed by several professional and regulatory bodies, offering participants the opportunity to earn valuable development points, including:

  • DOSH Malaysia – 15 CEP points
  • Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) – 16 CPD points
  • CIDB Malaysia – 20 CCD points
  • HRD Corp (SBL-Khas Scheme) – Approved training scheme

In addition, participants will receive e-certificates, e-notes, and presentation slides, ensuring the conference benefits extend beyond the two days of engagement.

Hybrid Format for Wider Reach

Reflecting its forward-looking theme, OCHCON 2025 is being conducted in a hybrid format, with both physical sessions at Bangi Resort Hotel and online participation through Zoom. This format has opened access to professionals from across Malaysia and beyond, particularly those unable to travel but eager to remain part of the conversation.

The hybrid model has been widely praised by industry observers as an effective way to balance inclusivity, cost-efficiency, and the need for face-to-face networking among occupational health stakeholders.

Registration and Fees

Fees for the event have been structured to remain accessible:

  • Online (Normal): RM150
  • Physical (Normal): RM500
  • SBL-Khas Online: RM400
  • SBL-Khas Physical: RM700

The organisers noted that these rates, combined with professional accreditation and UniKL RCMP’s academic backing, represent excellent value for participants seeking both knowledge and CPD points.

Looking Ahead

With a strong emphasis on ergonomics, OCHCON 2025 will explore how workplace environments can be redesigned to protect employees from musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue, and long-term injury. Speakers and panelists are also expected to examine broader issues such as digital health monitoring, employee mental well-being, and adapting occupational health practices for the next generation of workers.

UniKL RCMP’s involvement gives the conference academic depth, ensuring that the insights shared are supported by research and evidence-based practices. Organisers expressed hope that the event will become a catalyst for more collaborative projects between universities, industries, and government agencies.

“By bringing together experts from multiple fields under one roof, OCHCON 2025 serves not only as a platform for professional learning but also as a driver of change in Malaysia’s occupational health policies and workplace standards,” organisers said.
